Kill la Kill

Welcome to Cup of Tea!

Here we are discussing a rather famous and well-known anime as of late, or as I'd like to call it, 'A Walking Hoochie Circus'.

Despite the blatant fan-service consisting of abundant jigglies and male specimen which is intricately twined with anime tropes and perverted humor, I thoroughly enjoyed this anime, even though some of the content and writing did sort of push my buttons in the wrong way. (Although they managed to give you an explanation as to why it's a naked party or half naked party through and through, it's still the controversial but well known fan-service for mostly men, and to their credit, women too, that sort of danced along my nerves.)

If you like action packed anime with drama, laughs, obvious sexual things, and even some heart string tuggers in there, this anime is definitely for you and I highly recommend it!

It is centered around Matoi Ryuko, a spunky, loyal girl who was labeled as a delinquent for her constant need to fight throughout school, who is in search of her father's killer, her only lead one half of a giant pair of scissors that was used to kill him. So she transfers to Honnouji academy in search of a lead. She befriends a quirky and slightly ditzy girl named Mankanshoku Mako, who from the very beginning becomes a crucial friend to Ryuko through and through. There she finds out about Goku uniforms, uniforms that give you incredible powers just by wearing them! She then meets the student council president, Kiriyuin Satsuki, and her elite four who will follow her to the ends of the earth. Ryuko confronts her, and it seems that she may know a tidbit of information of her father's killer. This sets off the story in a rather strange way, but never a bad thing! If anything it leaves you wanting to find out more.

In comes the well-known sailor outfit that turns Ryuko into a stripper.

Senketsu, translated to fresh blood seeing as how he awakened by tasting Ryuko's blood in a secret basement back at her burned down mansion, forces himself onto Ryuko so he does not have to remain dormant again.

Yes he forced himself on her, one of the few things I was not pleased with, but I digress for now seeing as how that is a whole different rant.

You find out that Senketsu was the last project Ryuko's dad was working on in order to take down something much bigger than Ryuko finding her father's killer.

I'll stop there because if you want to find out what exactly that was, then why don't you GO OVER AND WATCH IT?!

Jesus.

But synopsis aside, I fell in love with the animation, the character dynamics and the incredible detail the staff put into the plot. What I assumed to be the average testosterone fueled anime with violence, titties and cliches, left me pleasantly surprised and even tearful by the very last episode! The last few had me screaming when I followed it weekly because jESUS DICKING CHRIST IT WAS SO GOOD HOW DO YOU DO THAT, TOO MANY FEELINGS.

Ahem.

I never would have thought in my lifetime that I'd get feelings for a sailor uniform and a delinquent, but did this anime prove me wrong.

Almost each and every character is thought out impeccably, their personalities fit the story and with each other, and over all I really cannot express just how much I enjoyed Kill la Kill. Enough to watch the last episode twice in one night. You see nothing but strong women, epic fight scenes, emotional struggles and fabulous teamwork that will leave you dazzled if the bouncing jugs don't do that already. Yes, I am looking at all of you with judgement in my eyes. (No, not really.)

If you have the time and if you have the interest, I highly recommend sitting down with a good snack, plenty of hours to kill and get yourself immersed into the world of Honnouji Academy and it's struggles with clothing. (You'll see what I mean. ;D )

This has been a review by the tart pastry, and thanks for reading!

I plan to toy with different ways to review as I go along, so bare with me. (teehee, naked puns)

Ta for now~
