Pokemon 20th February Mew Giveaway

Pokemon has been with us for 20 years now! Damn I feel old... Anyway, in light of it's 20th anniversary, They've decided to give all of it's fans a legendary Pokemon each month of this year! And, what better Pokemon to start it off than the first legendary Pokemon that started it all, the mysterious, and rather mischievous, enigma, Mew!

That's right! Already halfway through and going on without a hitch... wait... WHAT!?!? ALL THE GAMESTOPS IN MY AREA ARE OUT!? WHAT THE F***!!
They're sure to get some in before the 24th, right? RIGHT!? NO!???

This was ultimately my response as the GameStop associate broke the news to me. 20 years of Pokemon distributions and they still screw it up... My naive self thought the event was going to be similar to any other wireless Pokemon distribution. Apparently, Pokemon thought it'd be a BRILLIANT idea to give away the Pokemon with this.

THIS!!
A card with a unique generated code you scratch off to reveal on the back of it.

This is probably the worst way to give a Pokemon away unless you're prepared to restock ASAP.
And in no way was I ready for this. Not even in the distribution website did it say "While supplies last." So, I was a little pissed.

With an event like this, people could take advantage and take more than needed to make a profit. But, nobody would do that. We're all understanding people who care about our fellow players.

Why am I not surprised... You're all awful people.

People are actually selling these on eBay or putting them up for trade. Didn't GameStop prevent this? Well, I looked into the matter and, a few forums later, found out GameStop associates actually promoted this due to lack of customers... Frustrated, I emailed Pokemon support... Hehe, silly me, like a big corporation cared about one small individual...(They never responded to my email) The next day, as my hope was withering away, I decided to try one more idea. Call the stores in the least popular locations. Low and behold, a GameStop in my area(Altamont Ave, Schenectady, NY for those still looking) had a lot in stock. It was music to my ears! I triumphantly came in that night, captured 2 cards for myself and a friend, and left with my head held tall. Before I left, I told the associates my journey and they told me what everyone is doing is considered illegal. Legal or not, it isn't very sporting and I'm disappointed with Pokemon and the player community. For those who are without a GameStop, People on eBay are selling them for around $5 or more. You could also try your luck at the many forums bartering them. However, if you do have a GameStop in your area, don't lose hope. Try to find the locations less visited. You may just strike gold, or in this case, pink!

So, the year started with a few hiccups. However, I'm not going to let this ruin my love for Pokemon. Hopefully, the later events are run better, but I'm going to keep on my guard and infiltrate a GameStop the 1st day of the event. It's been a fun 20 years with them and I hope they have many more! TRAIN ON!
