Cytus

I’ve been addicted to Cytus for some time now. What is Cytus, you ask? Cytus is an amazing, fast paced mobile rhythm game that consumes your very being! Ok, not really… It’s really good, though. Cytus, produced by Rayark Inc, has many different genres ranging from pop and jazz, to dub step and vocaloid. Though, the music may not be everyone’s “cup of tea”, those who love gaming, anime, electronic music or anything along those lines, will truly enjoy it! Many of the songs are influenced by what I believe to be Japanese culture. So, there are some songs that are sang in Japanese, which, depending on your preference, may hinder or intensify your enjoyment of the game. They say the music is created by some well known musicians from around the world, but I’ve never heard of them until today. Hey, I’m an American! Cut me some slack!

The Gameplay is fairly simple, yet challenging. The songs are set in “Chapters”. A chapter consists of 10 songs. You have to complete each chapter with the highest score you can get. To play, you must follow the music and tap, swipe or hold bubbles right as the moving black scan bar crosses over it. If you hit one too early, you’ll get a “Bad” point. If you miss it, you’ll get a “Missed” point. The object of the game is to get all of the bubbles at the “Perfect” timing. Thus resulting in an “S” rank. Depending on how well you do in the song, you’ll be ranked by a letter. “S” being the best you can get. It’s pretty straightforward. The music isn’t just randomly placed there either. The music, combined with amazing art, is set in specific chapters that tell a story. To find out more about the story, go to Rayark Inc’s website, which I will include at the end of this article. There are hidden songs in the game too. In order to unlock the hidden songs, you must find the secret gestures. Unfortunately, for that, you’re going to have to use Google. It’s pretty easy to find, though.

The game is available free to download and an in-app purchase to go pro. Which basically means you can use certain functions like “retry” and you don’t have to wait 30 seconds or until an ad pops up to play. The upgrade costs a measly $1.99. So, it’s pretty affordable! You can also purchase a $4.99 upgrade to unlock chapters before they’re released. I would recommend purchasing the pro version. The reason being is because of Rayark Inc’s Million Download Project. This basically means that with every 100,000 purchases of the $1.99 upgrade, a new chapter will be produced within 3 months of the day the mark was reached. To put it bluntly, the game’s future depends on you! If you don’t buy it, you might just make me cry. Do you want that!? Well, I personally don't...
